Day 1
Welcome to Scotland
Following our pick ups, we enjoy a leisurely journey through the borders, breaking for lunch at the Falkirk Wheel and arriving late afternoon at our overnight hotel north of Glasgow.
Day 3
The Uists
We enjoy a scenic drive across the Isle of Skye.
We catch the mid-morning sailing from Berneray to Leverburgh on North Uist.
Afternoon spent touring the Uists passing tiny lochs and impressive beaches.
Day 2
Scotland at its Best
Today we explore the spectacular mountain scenery of Scotland.
We travel through beautiful Glencoe, scene of a famous massacre in 1692.
We continue to Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis, for a lunch break.
Onwards through Glen Shiel, we make a photo stop at Eilean Donan Castle.
Day 4
Isle of Harris
Board the sailing to the largest of the Hebridean Islands – Lewis and Harris.
A rugged landscape of moorland, deep-sea lochs, and mountains.
Against this backdrop is a proud history dating back to prehistoric times.
We travel along the spine of the island to the capital Stornoway, for the next two nights.
Day 5
Island Guided Tour
Full day tour of Lewis, with a local coach and an experienced island guide, including the impressive 5,000 year old standing stones of Callanish (Scotland’s Stonehenge, but older!).
We visit the ancient thatched “black houses” at Gearrannan, typical of crofting settlements.
See imposing Carloway Broch, a fortified tower dating back over 2,000 years.
Day 6
Highland Landscapes & Spey Valley
We catch the ferry for the 2½ hour sailing to Ullapool, followed by a glorious drive across the sweep of the Highlands to Inverness with time free in the Highland Capital, inverness. Continue south through picturesque Speyside and into Perthshire for your final nights stay.
Day 7
Homeward Bound
Sadly, we begin our journey home.
We break for lunch in Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, where there is time to explore Princes Street.
