Aviemore Steam And Spey Valley

This morning we travel to Aviemore, and some free time before boarding our steam train on the Strathspey Railway, where our journey takes us through some spectacular Speyside mountainous scenery. We then enjoy sometime in Grantown on Spey, before visiting the much-acclaimed Speyside Centre at Dulnain Bridge, explaining the myths, legends, folklore and history of whisky of the Cairngorms

Kyle Line Train & scenic Delight

Today we travel to Inverness and the Kyle Line Train, we journey through some dramatic scenery climbing over the highlands and through the carved solid rock that leads to Kyle of Lochalsh, it is little wonder Michael Palin described the journey as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world “. After a lunchbreak we take a scenic ride along the shore of Loch Alsh, passing Eilean Donan Castle and Glen Shiel passing Loch Clunanie, Loch Loyne, Loch Gary and Loch Lochy. We will make a photo stop at the Commando Memorial above Spean Bridge before returning to the hotel.

West Highland Line Train

Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, partly due to the 46 miles of spellbinding scenery and partly due to it being the set for the Harry Potter trilogies. The journey between Fort William and Mallaig take you past a list of extremes. From Ben Nevis, to the 21 arc Glenfinnan Viaduct, passing deep lochs, high mountain ranges and coastal views across to the Isles. Free time to explore the fishing town of Mallaig. The return coach journey is a very different road journey, with photo stop at Glenfinnan to see Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Monument at the head of the loch, and Neptunes Staircase a series of 8 lock gates on the Caledonian Canal.
