We begin our day with an insight into Constable including the birthplace of the famous artist at East Bergholt, an unspoilt village with many fine old houses and cottages. We also take in the little hamlet of Flatford Mill, a favourite landscape subject and soak up the scenes of rural England at first hand, as well as Dedham, with its 131ft church tower and more Constable links.
The day continues with a delightful drive visiting many beautiful Suffolk villages. Firstly, we visit Lavenham, one of our best preserved medieval villages with many colourful and halftimbered houses and we visit the historic Guildhall which tells the story of one of the best preserved and wealthiest towns in Tudor England.
We pass the villages of Cavendish and Clare, with pretty pastel coloured houses, and make our way back along the Colne Valley through Halstead.
The Easter Bunny may call today! We head south to burnham on Crouch, in the heart of smugglers country, returning to the Blackwater Estuary and the delightful town of Maldon, before making our way back to the hotel.
