Castle Howardis a magnificent mansion widely known as the backdrop for the TV series ‘Brideshead Revisited’. The house was designed by Vanbrugh in the 18th century and is one of the finest stately homes in England, full of treasures and sumptuous interiors. Still lived in by the Howard Family, the house is set in 1000 acres, with splendid gardens.
This morning we visit RHs Harlow Carr Gardens. This beautiful garden has lakes and pleasant woodland walks. Afterwards enjoy some time to explore Harrogate. This pleasant spa town has grand buildings and pleasant parks. Not to be missed is a visit Betty’s Tea Room, where there is a choice of 300 breads, cakes and chocolates, as well as 50 different teas and coffees!
The day is free to explore the city. Our hotel is central and within easy walking distance of the Castle Museum and Cliffords Tower. See the impressive Minster, walk along ‘The Shambles’ or visit the Jorvik Viking Museum.
Middletons is a collection of six historical, Grade-II listed buildings situated around a secluded courtyard garden in the heart of York city centre, close to the Castle Museum and Cliffords Tower. All of the individually decorated en-suite rooms have satellite TV, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities. Please note there is no lift.
