Admission to National Botanic Garden of Wales
Morning free to explore swansea, second largest city in Wales.
See the Maritime Quarter, Waterfront Museum, Dylan Thomas Centre and Castle.
In the afternoon, we travel to the Gower Peninsula, the first place in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a picturesque area with rugged limestone cliffs and golden sands.
We visit the attractive small village of Rhossili at the western end of Gower. Rhossili Bay was voted best beach in the UK for two years running!
The National Botanic Garden's centrepiece is the Great Glasshouse designed by world-famous architects Norman Foster and Partners. Inside the amazing tilted glass dome is a Mediterranean landscape dominated by a six-metre deep ravine. Rock terraces and sheer faces are cut by streams and waterfalls.
A lake provides a humid habitat at the foot of the chasm. Visitors are able to experience the aftermath of an Australian bush fire, pause in a Spanish olive grove or wander through collections of fuschias from Chile.
We visit Dinefwr (National Trust, admission extra), a National Nature Reserve, historic house and 18th century landscape park, enclosing a 100 acre medieval deer park.
See Newton House, a Victorian Gothic mansion based on an earlier 16th Century castle, reputedly one of the most haunted houses in Britain.
Modern luxury hotel in an excellent position, on the waterfront overlooking the marina, close to the shops and National Waterfront Museum.
