Bruges Christmas Market.
Each Christmas, hundreds of market stalls are set out across the town centre of Bruges, turning its already-charming streets into fairytale festive squares and plazas.
Colourful stalls and illuminated stands decorate the beautiful Grote Markt area of the city, creating a captivating Christmas market.
These stands are packed with traditional wooden toys for children, confectionery, gifts, jewellery and more.
There are also fairground rides, an outdoor ice-rink and horses and carts for you to enjoy, all the while, the scent of honey waffle biscuits and other classic Belgian food hangs in the air.
Optional excursion to Ypres, best known for its association with the Great War.
Untold numbers of soldiers marched through the town on their way to the front line. Many did not return and today the Menin Gate – Ypres’ Memorial to the Missing – is one of the most poignant focal points for remembering the fallen in Europe.
We visit Cité Europe before boarding our return shuttle back.
This recently refurbished hotel is situated in the historic heart of Bruges, just 50m from the famous Lake of Love and the Béguinage.
The hotel boasts a lovely winter garden and stylish terrace as well as easy access on foot to the city centre.
This is a bed and breakfast break, but there is a restaurant in the hotel and there is a huge selection of restaurants in the city.
